Today on the YouTube channel, I’m sharing some research I’ve done on the oldest languages of Europe. For years I’ve been told that Euskara, the Basque language, is the oldest living language in Europe, but I wanted to investigate whether that’s true.
What I found is that it’s a complicated question with no simple answers! Since it’s virtually impossible to know how old languages are, there are several languages that can claim to be among some of the oldest in Europe, including Euskara. This latest video explains what these languages are and what aspects of them put them in the running for the title “Oldest Language in Europe.”
I wanted there to be a resource on YouTube for anyone searching about Basque culture to learn more about it, so I hope this video is helpful and interesting.
