I don’t know about you, but The Bachelorette has taken over the family room TV on Monday nights at my house this summer.

This season’s Bachelorette is about to pick her man tonight, and it’s got me nostalgic for last year’s season of The Bachelorette. Members of the Basque American community and Bachelor Nation already know that last season the competition’s only Basque American contestant, Garrett Yrigoyen, won the Bachelorette’s heart

Garrett Yrigoyen proposed to Bachelorette Becca Kufrin, and I wanted to update you on what they’re up to a year later.

Are Becca and Garrett still together?

Yes, they are still engaged! For couples that come out of the popular TV franchise, that’s an accomplishment.

They celebrated their 1 year anniversary together in March of this year.

The happy couple moved in together around that same time. Since the show ended, they had been traveling back and forth to visit each other. Becca was in Minnesota, Garrett in Nevada.

But now they live together in Carlsbad, California, just north of San Diego. According to Becca, it’s been a bit of an adjustment:

““It’s been a change! Because I’ve never lived anywhere other than Minnesota and I’ve never lived with a partner before. I was very independent and used to living on my own, so it’s been different to adapt to someone else’s lifestyle.”

She adds, “Garrett and I are just completely different in everything. I’m very organized and so when I come home, I like to put everything in a proper place and put it away, so you don’t see it.”

“He’s more of a type of person to come home and throw his keys, his wallet and his receipts everywhere,” she says of Yrigoyen, “and I feel like I’m always picking up after him!”

When will Becca and Garrett be getting married?

The couple hasn’t set a wedding date yet. They seem to be enjoying adjusting to living together and taking things slow.

Back in December 2018 there was a rumor they had gotten married because these photos started showing up on Instagram.

It turns out Garrett and Becca had just been hired as models for a wedding event planner’s promotional campaign. Well played!

As for what their wedding will eventually be like, Becca and Garrett haven’t planned too many details yet but they can agree on one thing.

“The only thing that we’ve talked about that we want are food trucks. I want a great taco truck and a ton of Skee-Ball machines so everyone can just play games.”

Sounds like it definitely won’t be a traditional Basque wedding.

Whether it will be televised or not is still a matter of debate. Garrett and Becca haven’t decided whether they want their wedding on TV, but Becca’s mom sure is against it. “I think right now my mom would kill me if I did anything more on TV,” she said in an interview with Us Weekly.

Will Becca take Garrett’s Basque last name when they marry?

Will Becca be the new Mrs. Yrigoyen? It doesn’t seem like it. Becca is set on keeping her last name. She told Elite Daily:

“We might hyphenate. I feel like I’m the last Kufrin, and I want to keep my dad’s name going, so I’ll still keep Kufrin no matter what.”

Becca’s father passed away 10 years ago, so it makes sense that she would want to keep her name to honor him. But Kufrin-Yrigoyen has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

No matter what they decide on for their wedding plans and last names, we’re wishing all the best to Becca and Garrett.
