Today on the YouTube channel, I’m continuing our introductory series on the Basque Country with a video answering the question: “What Is Euskadi?”
Many people may have heard this word but aren’t sure what it means, so I’m explaining what Euskadi is and what it is not. Please share with anyone you think would benefit from this information.
Last week, I posted about how 2020 is a Jaialdi year, and it turns out a lot of you are just as excited about this as I am.
If you’re not in the loop, Jaialdi is the largest Basque festival in the United States that only comes around once every 5 years. The Basque community in Boise, Idaho hosts this 4-day affair featuring dancers, musicians, and athletes from the Basque Country, as well as from our own Basque American communities.
I read that the last Jaialdi in 2015 drew crowds of 35,000 to 50,000 people. Not bad for a city with just over 200,000 people!
It’s going to be a huge celebration of Basque culture right here in the United States, and it’s happening July 28th to August 2nd.
